A unique opportunity for health professionals to specialise in the field of haemoglobinopathies online with minimum disruption to professional and personal lives.

This new e-Msc course is offered by University College London (UCL), one of the most prestigious universities in the world and one of the few to have the necessary infrastructure and expertise to teach through e-learning. It is launched in collaboration with TIF to contribute to our mission of achieving equal access to quality health care for every patient with thalassaemia around the world.

Course objectives

  • To develop skills in basic and clinical science in the field of prevention, medical and other care in haemoglobinopathies
  • To learn about the prevention and holistic management of haemoglobinopathies as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • To learn how to analyse information and display data using different statistical methods
  • To learn methods of counselling and patient care, using role-play models in video conferencing programmes

Degrees

The programme offers three academic degrees, part-time or full-time, for students based anywhere in the world: MSc (1 year full time/2 years part time), Diploma (8/16 months) and Certificate (4/8 months).

Who should register?

The course has been designed to meet the needs of a wide range of medical professionals, including medical graduates interested in haemoglobinopathy (general physicians, specialists such as paediatricians, haematologists, clinical geneticists, obstetricians/gynaecologists, behavioural scientists); science graduates interested in medical research related to haemoglobinopathy and genetics; and other healthcare professionals interested in haemoglobinopathy – such as counsellors, clinical psychologists, nurse specialists and midwives.
