The European Platform for Patients' Organisations, Science and Industry (EPPOSI) is a patient-led partnership between patients, industry and academic science, founded in 1994 for the exchange of information and discussion of policies in EU human healthcare. EPPOSI's primary mission is to establish a strong European alliance of patients' organisations, academic science, including clinicians, and industry jointly working on healthcare policies towards the treatment and prevention of serious diseases.

EPPOSI concentrates its activities in the field of healthcare policy-making, with a focus on the promotion of patients’ interests. Of particular importance is finding ways to promote the funding, development and availability of innovative medical solutions to all individuals in need.

Areas of activity:

  1. Research and development
  2. Policy and regulations
  3. Access to health care
  4. Rare disorders and orphan drugs
  5. Genetic testing and counselling
  6. Patient organisation issues

TIF is an official collaborating patients’ organisation and participates in EPPOSI’s annual workshops and other activities. Through its involvement in the work of EPPOSI, TIF is gaining valuable experience and knowledge for patients with thalassaemia, particularly with regard to issues such as patient safety, orphan drugs and European policy initiatives.
