ENERCA (European Network for Rare and Congenital Anaemias) is a network co-financed by the European Commission (DG-SANCO), in which different experts are working together with the purpose of offering an improved public health service to professional medical practitioners and patients in every aspect of rare anaemias.
ENERCA's main objectives:

  • Creation of a European Reference Network (ERN) of Expert Centres in Rare Anaemias,
  • Harmonization of procedures on Rare Anaemias,
  • Epidemiological surveillance,
  • Continuous medical education and public awareness,
  • Promotion of relationships with patients associations,
  • Promotion of research and cooperation between experts, and
  • Consolidation of the ENERCA website and its services.

TIF leads work package 5 on "Public Health aspects and management of patients with thalassaemia".
