TIF Welcomes Newest Member

Cambodian thalassaemia patients have created their first patients/parents’ support association. The process started in 2007 during TIF’s first official delegation visit, when patients and parents expressed a lot of interest in having a national thalassaemia association. Since then, they have worked tirelessly and the Cambodian Thalassaemia Association (CTA) was finally registered in August 2008. A warm welcome to our global family!

The book About Thalassaemia and TIF’s educational booklets on α-and β-thalassaemia have already been translated into Khmer and distributed to patients in the country. Since many doctors are not familiar with thalassaemia, About Thalassaemia has also been given to all health professionals to use a primary reference book pending the forthcoming translation of TIF’s authoritative guide, the Guidelines for the Clinical Management of Thalassaemia, into Khmer.
